Seaglass Publishing, L.L.C. is owned by Richard and Nancy LaMotte of Chestertown, Maryland. The company was established in 2003 to produce the book Pure Sea Glass: Discovering Nature's Vanishing Gems (June 2004). The book earned first place honors for non-fiction in the 13th Annual Writer's Digest International Self-Publishing Book Competition (March 2006). The company has since shipped more than 80,000 copies to individuals and bookstores throughout North America and beyond.

The firm launched a line of sea glass themed note cards in 2005 and continues to expand products for their growing audience of beachcombers and coastal enthusiasts which include their recently produced product: Pure Sea Glass Identification Card Deck. A guest book and pocket journal are also included in the product line.

Richard LaMotte

Richard LaMotte has worked in marketing and advertising for a water analysis company since 1984. He is the active President of the North American Sea Glass Association and has assisted his wife, Nancy, in collecting more than 35,000 shards of sea glass. Following several years of glass research he wrote the book Pure Sea Glass. He continues to offer lectures, appraisals and signings throughout the U.S. and Canada.


Nancy LaMotte

Nancy LaMotte began working with jewelry in her native New York in 1978. After graduating from Boston University's School for the Arts in 1986, she initially held a marketing position with a large chemical corporation. In 1991 she moved to Chestertown to marry Richard and raise a family. She returned to the arts in late 1999 when she started Chesapeake Seaglass jewelry. She now manages the operations of Sea Glass Publishing.
